What Are Cataracts?

Cataracts are a clouding of the eye’s natural lens, often due to aging. This condition gradually worsens, leading to symptoms such as blurred or dim vision, difficulty seeing at night, and increased sensitivity to light. Cataracts can impact daily activities and significantly affect the quality of life if left untreated.

Causes and Risk Factors

While age is the most common cause, other factors like diabetes, prolonged UV exposure, smoking, and certain medications can also increase the risk of cataracts.

Symptoms of Cataracts

  • Blurred or cloudy vision
  • Faded colors
  • Poor night vision
  • Sensitivity to light and glare
  • Halos around lights
